Favorite Video Game Trailers
Here are just a few of my many favorite game trailers from 2011-2012. With us only in April and many more months to come, I expect this list to grow as they pass. What are some of your favorite trailers so far this year?
First Up….
MASS EFFECT 3 - OFFICIAL LAUNCH TRAILER
Mass Effect’s universe in my personal opinion surpasses even the great George Lucas’s Star Wars. This trailer was one a many to cue the final stand against the Reapers. It’s a shame that the games brilliant metaphoric ending, became the topic of negative discussion by many.
PREY 2 - CINEMATIC TRAILER
I absolutely love this trailer for many reasons, first being the score being provided by Johnny Cash. The second being able to play the role of and intergalactic bounty hunter. I was very happy to hear that Prey 2 didn’t get canceled, and is being held back to improve quality. They have all the ingredients needed to make a very successful title and I cannot wait until it sees the light of day.
FAR CRY 3 - STRANDED TRAILER
Far beyond the reach of civilization is a mysterious island overrun with violence and suffering. While traveling with friends, you are taken captive and brutalized. Your only hope of survival lies in unraveling the dark secrets of the island and its deranged inhabitants. Alone at the edge of the world, where nothing is what it seems, you must find a way to fight back and escape this island of insanity. This trailer is a clear indication of how far games have come, and possibly a glimpse at what next generation systems game play could equal.
RESIDENT EVIL: OPERATION RACOON CITY - TRIPLE THREAT TRAILER
It is a damn shame that Hollywood cannot produce quality video game titles with the premise like this launch trailer for Resident Evil’s, Operation Racoon City. The action and level of detail they created in this trailer is absolutely amazing. From slight decreases in the shocks of a car, to fantastic dynamic lighting, perhaps soon we could see true representations of titles we have come to love on the big screen. Instead of the sad excuses for creative control that have been shown so far. The only negative thing I can say is that I was disappointed that the trailer didn’t end with the tyrant saying….Starrrrsss!
JOURNEY - LAUNCH TRAILER
Journey for me was a life changing experience. After loosing my father tragically I had been searching for answers for the last year. Never did I expect to find them inside a video game. Journey is one of the most powerful experiences, not only in video games, but in the entertainment industry as a whole. Personally speaking, I think this is greatest game of this generation. Not because of what it looks like, or how it plays, but what it makes you feel. I strongly believe this game will be a topic of discussion for many years to come.
DISHONORED - DEBUT TRAILER
Bethesda came out of no where with their debut trailer for Dishonored. Dishonored to me looks like what would happen if Bioshock & Assassins Creed had a love child. This trailer has been talked about by many since it’s release just last week and has already seen over 1 million views. From the dark setting, to unbelievable visuals, the backdrop for this tale is very intriguing. Tales of revenge and a lead character who looks to act without hesitation I believe will be a huge hit with fans. This looks to be their most ambitious title to date.
THE SIMPSONS: TAPPED OUT - LAUNCH TRAILER
After many long nights of development, our first title after being acquired by Electronic Arts for the Apple App Store. While only a soft discussion during development, Gracie Films, the creators of the Simpsons universe made us this fantastic launch trailer for the game. After being a lifetime fan of The Simpsons, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with this talented team.
