VGA Game Of The Year Score By Lorne Balfe

This years VGA awards, were a drastic improvement over previous years. However this year featured an unbelievable mashup by Grammy Award winning composer Lorne Balfe. Lorne Balfe took elements from each of this years nominees and produced something that I believe stole the show. As much as I look forward to next years titles, this was amazing.

Could not find good copies of this anywhere online, so took a few hours last night to create and whipped this up. Something like this is too great not to share.

Features high quality audio and was edited in iMovie. Featured a variety of my wallpapers or screenshots from each nominated title, alongside the score.

Lead By Grammy Award Winning Composer
Lorne Balfe

Featuring From This Years Game Of The Year Nominees
Mass Effect 3
The Walking Dead
Journey
Dishonored
Assassin’s Creed 3

Robin Hunicke’s thank-you speech after Journey wins Best Indie Game at the 2012 Spike VGAs.

“We would like to dedicate this award to the players who play Journey, because you bring Journey to life for everyone, every day, and for you we are truly, truly grateful…We made Journey for you to show you that games can be something different. Independent, experimental, moving, emotional, modern, inclusive, different. That’s why we made it. Thank you for believing in us, supporting in us, and making our dreams come true.”

Ever since it’s introduction, Playstation Plus has been under mixed reviews from those not willing to take the chance on it. After enjoying over $750 dollars in savings myself last year alone, I have been more than satisfied with Sony’s offering. This year at E3 however, they raised the bar even higher with an extensive game collection that will only continue to grow.

With major titles like Little Big Planet 2, inFAMOUS 2, Ratchet & Clank, Just Cause 2, Gotham City Impostures & many more. You can now have an instant collection the second you sign up. Titles will be swapped out each month, with new ones available. My hard drive has been working overtime as of late trying to keep up with all the content. The news may be late with many already discussing the Plus service, however the message is the same.

MUST READ: GameInformer.com - How Journey Restored My Faith In Gamers

Yesterday ThatGameCompany shared a link to a recent article by Kyle Hilliard, over at GameInformer.com that discusses how Journey restored some of his faith in gamers. It is a great article that not only highlights how great Journey is, but also highlights many of the exact same frustations I have been having. Being an employee for Electronic Arts, I was very impressed to see him discuss the recent controversy with Mass Effect 3, and our recent label as, worst company in America.

Check out the complete article after the break:

A Tribute To My Father Through Journey - Feat Austin Wintory

A year ago today, I lost the my father suddenly and have been searching ever since for answers. Never in my wildest dreams, did I expect to find them while playing a video game. My father was the greatest man I have ever known, and it has been one of the hardest battles of my life. The experience I had with Journey, as strange as it sounds has allowed me to share a final moment with him that I never thought was possible.

This video serves not only as a tribute to him, but also as a means of healing on the anniversary of his passing. The video features various clips from ThatGameCompany’s Journey, as well quotes from my recent review of the title. Providing the score for this video, is Austin Wintory’s Final Confluence which is just one of the many amazing tracks featured on the games soundtrack.

I wish to thank Austin Wintory and Jenova Chen for permission to use the footage, as well as the beautiful music for this tribute. Also to everyone at ThatGameCompany, and everyone else who has contacted me about my review. Your words help in a time of hurt, and I am forever grateful.

I love you dad, and miss you everyday….
