A Tribute To My Father Through Journey - Feat Austin Wintory

A year ago today, I lost the my father suddenly and have been searching ever since for answers. Never in my wildest dreams, did I expect to find them while playing a video game. My father was the greatest man I have ever known, and it has been one of the hardest battles of my life. The experience I had with Journey, as strange as it sounds has allowed me to share a final moment with him that I never thought was possible.

This video serves not only as a tribute to him, but also as a means of healing on the anniversary of his passing. The video features various clips from ThatGameCompany’s Journey, as well quotes from my recent review of the title. Providing the score for this video, is Austin Wintory’s Final Confluence which is just one of the many amazing tracks featured on the games soundtrack.

I wish to thank Austin Wintory and Jenova Chen for permission to use the footage, as well as the beautiful music for this tribute. Also to everyone at ThatGameCompany, and everyone else who has contacted me about my review. Your words help in a time of hurt, and I am forever grateful.

I love you dad, and miss you everyday….

Journey: A Review From The Heart

I don’t usually take the time to write game reviews, as I don’t usually have the time to dedicate to fully reviewing titles. However when ThatGameCompany announced they were working on a new project, my mind raced with the thoughts of what it could possibly be. After enjoying Flow and being amazed by Flower, ThatGameCompany is one of the few developers in the industry that always looks outside the box. So, when they made the announcement for Journey, I knew it would be something like we have never seen.

Rather than explain to you what Journey is, I am going to tell you what it meant to me and how elements of my real life somehow ended up appearing during my first play through.

While working late one night in early 2011 on our latest mobile game title The Simpsons, the phone rang from my father which I unfortunately missed and was unable to answer. Due to the time of the call, I decided to call him back the following day. A decision, that you would never expect could carry so much weight later on, and would change my life forever. Only hours before I was to call him back, I received word that my father had suddenly passed away and in an instant I felt the light inside me begin to darken. My father was a great man and he was not only my father, but my best friend and over the last year I have found myself wandering, fighting thoughts inside my head. Doing everything I can, searching and trying to find answers.

This is my latest tribute music video for Sucker Punch’s inFAMOUS 2. In my opinion it was the most under rated game of 2011, and not to mention had one of, if not the best soundtrack as well. Video features the lead track from the Blue album titles “Fade Away” by The Black Heart Procession that is featured in the end credits of the game. I have taken various cut scenes from the game and weaved them together with lead track. Thanks for checking it out and please like the video if you are on Youtube!

I will be tackling Battlefield 3 next, followed by Red Dead Redemption. Those with suggestions please feel free to let me know!
